The Most Perfect Sequin Maxi Dress Of All Time

Last week, I fell in love at first sight. For you naysayers who say that’s not a real thing–you’re not shopping at the right places.

I feel head over heels the second I saw this sequin maxi dress at Calypso St. Barth (big mistake going in there in the first place). And when I tried it on, I wanted to shout my obsession from the rooftops and commit to this dress ’til death do us part.

I mean…it’s perfect in every way. I would call it the Honeymoon Dress, but I don’t know anything about honeymoons, so am not authorized to make that statement. I think it’s the perfect tropical vacay dress because while it’s entirely covered in sequins, it’s still a lightweight, casual-cut maxi…with a drawstring tube top (hello, low-key elegance). And ladies, I think we all know if were on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, we’d be wearing this ensemble the night of the fantasy suite–am I right or am I right do I just have sex on the brain? I’m actually a little surprised that sequin-obsessed Emily Maynard didn’t own this dress (although I’m sure if it had a keyhole and/or one-shoulder strap, she’d be all over it).

But at $395, I just couldn’t bring myself to buy it on the spot (especially since I had just gotten a pricey haircut and ravaged the sale rack at Free People). Obviously I felt the need to text my ex(ish)/on-and-off-again-whatever-he-is/sext text buddy and hope for a miracle.

Don’t get your hopes up. I don’t think he’s ever bought me anything except food, booze, and a concert ticket or two.

I shared the news with my bestie Kate and she suggested we split it because we probably wouldn’t wear it more than a few times each (it’s just that kind of special occasion dress), but I’m just not sure. I mean, do you really want to share the love of your life with your best friend?

Am I hoping that Calypso St. Barth sees this blog entry and sends the dress to me à la Vivienne Westwood and Carrie’s wedding gown in Sex and the City: The Movie? Duh. Of course I am. But since I don’t see that happening either, I may just have to suck it up and purchase the dress (don’t tell my mom), then promptly book a tropical vacation (St. Barth, perhaps?) so I feel justified. Because that makes perfect financial sense.

If you’re engaged (congrats, girl!), you definitely need this sparkly number for your honeymoon. Or if you just fell in love with it like me, check it out online or shop at the Calypso St. Barth boutiques (in the White Provisions building in Atlanta).

And live happily ever after.
