With all the fancy, new-fangled beauty brands out there, it’s easy to forget about the old guys. Estee Lauder? Sounds like a grandma. And is Avon still a thing? Or just the next hot celebrity kid name?
And then there’s Clinique–maker of that giant bar soap (what a bitch to travel with) and old-school yellow lotion. Clinique was the first skincare my mom ever bought me in middle school when she realized I should probably stop cleansing my face with the same Dove bar my brother washed his pits with, and that I had dry skin at an age when other puberty-stricken girls looked like they went bobbing for apples in a vat of Crisco. What?
Anyway, Clinique has stood the test of time and there’s a reason the brand is still one of the most popular today–they continue to put out stellar products and innovate. Well, except for that lotion. They change that formula and they’ll have a bunch of grannies on Rascals picketing at their counters.
The newest breakthrough product is the Repairwear Laser Focus serum.
This. Shit. Is. Awesome.
It helps diminish age spots and smooth and improve overall skin tone. It does decrease the look of fine lines, but don’t expect it to be Botox in a bottle, because that doesn’t exist….yet. As for what’s in it, there’s no retinol, but it has other retinol-esque stuff (whatever, I’m not a scientist) as well as additional magical ingredients, which I can only assume are droplets from the Fountain of Youth and unicorn tears. A little goes a long way, and the texture is really silky and smooth. Use it regularly and you’ll notice a difference within a month (maybe even sooner). And remember, Clinique products are fragrance-free and good for sensitive skin; although if you’re SUPER sensitive, always consult your derm before slathering a new serum on your mug.
