PRIMPin’ Products of the Week: Dry Skin Saviors

Colder weather is officially here, so this week’s PRIMP-approved products are inspired by one of the biggest beauty battles I have personally fought for as long as I can remember… dry skin. And I didn’t stutter when I said fought; me against my skin is like World War 3 in the dry dead of winter. It’s itchy, it’s awkward, and it’s totally exacerbated by cold weather, so with temps dropping, you’ll need major moisturization to keep your face, body, lips, and hands happy. wnp-primpproducts-lotions-1425592

For Body: Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion with Aloe ($8.49): No joke, this is my Holy Grail of lotions. I have to have this product on hand, post-shower, at all times. Once you slather it on, you’ll notice instant smoothing, soothing, and skin softening. It’s jam packed with intensive moisturizers so get ready for a reasonably thick consistency. To make it easier and faster for the product to absorb, I recommend applying after you shower when skin is still damp (and that locks in moisture better). Fragrance-free and non-greasy, this is what I like to call a renaissance lotion. I even put it on my face! Cha-ching!

For Hands: Aveda Hand Relief Moisturizer with rosemary mint (Limited Edition) ($23): This is your new desk side BFF. Breathe in its refreshing rosemary-mint aroma while hands get some much needed relief. Fruit acids give hands the essential exfoliation they need while natural plant goodness delivers top hydration to skin. (Bonus: This limited-edition product donates $4 toward the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.) If you can’t find the rosemary mint, go for the regular Hand Relief, which works just as well.

For Face: Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance ($41): This ultra rich antioxidant moisturizer is the bees knees. Apply all over face and neck, morning and night, to strengthen and soothe skin. Vitamin C smooths away appearance of tight, dry lines, and skin damage, and the formula contains no artificial fragrances or colors that can irritate an already dry, tight face. If you’re feeling extra frisky, prep skin with Dermalogica Mulit-Active Toner ($34) to enhance absorption and really quench skin’s thirst.

For Lips: Clinique Superbalm Lip Treatment ($14.50): Nothing worse for you and the person looking at you/kissing you/dating you than chapped, brittle lips. Woof. For someone who LOVES wearing rich colored lipsticks in the winter months, this can be a serious buzz kill. Clinique’s Superbalm Lip Treatment goes above and beyond, because it not only deeply hydrates your pucker but it repairs it, too. Use it before you go to bed and wake up to the most moisturized, kissable lips you’ve had since middle school (Carmex anyone?).

PRIMP tip: Remember, a moisturizer can’t do everything. The right serum applied before moisturizing can make a world of difference. Visit your dermatologist or a local cosmetic boutique (like Woo for Atlanta gals) to ensure you’re choosing the right serum and expect to spend a little extra dough (trust me, your skin 30 years from now will thank you). And cheaper (yet just as important)–exfoliation is a huge factor in maintaining skin’s overall balance, appearance, and health especially during the colder months. If you have a Clarisonic, use that bad boy daily, and exfoliate at least once a week.

…. and of course, you know this secret to gorgeous, youthful skin.

Cheers!
Hayden
